One-page lookup card for all three modules. Use it before a study session, at the airport, or before a work meeting with an international team.

Module 1: Memory and Input

1.1 Spaced Repetition Foundations

Core idea: review at expanding intervals, right before you would forget. Small daily reps beat one long cram.

Deck-building rules

Rule Do Don't
Card size One fact per card Whole paragraphs
Front A prompt that forces recall A word you just recognize
Back Short answer + one example Long definitions
Direction Both ways (L1→L2 and L2→L1) Only recognition
New cards/day A number you can clear daily (e.g. 10-15) 100 on day one
Suspend Cards you keep failing, then rewrite Grind a broken card forever

Review schedule (typical expanding intervals)

Review Roughly when
1 Same day / next day
2 2-3 days later
3 ~1 week
4 ~2-3 weeks
5 ~1-2 months
6+ Months, then maintenance

Tip: If you fail a card, it drops back to a short interval. That is the system working, not failing. Fix the card if it fails twice in a row.

When to use what

Situation Method
New vocabulary Flashcard, both directions
Grammar pattern Cloze sentence card
Pronunciation Audio card + shadowing (1.2)
Travel phrases Phrase card with a real scenario on the front
A card you keep missing Rewrite it smaller, or suspend it

1.2 Active Listening and Shadowing Drills

Active listening = listening to understand, not just to hear. Shadowing = speaking along with a recording, copying rhythm, stress, and melody.

Shadowing loop

  1. Listen once, no text. Note what you catch.
  2. Read the transcript. Mark unknown words and stress.
  3. Shadow slowly with the audio, line by line.
  4. Shadow at full speed, no text.
  5. Record yourself and compare to the original.
  6. Repeat the same clip tomorrow before moving on.
