What you will achieve
By the end of this course you will be able to stand in front of a room and move it. Not just survive the room, move it. Concretely, you will be able to:
- Build any talk around one clear message, with an opening that earns attention in the first thirty seconds and a close that lands instead of trailing off.
- Control your voice and pacing on purpose: where to speed up, where to pause, where to drop volume so people lean in.
- Use body language and manage nerves so they work for you rather than against you.
- Shape a story arc and tell a personal anecdote that supports your point instead of wandering away from it.
- Handle Q&A under pressure, including the hostile question, the vague question, and the one you do not know the answer to.
- Adapt the same core talk to three different rooms: a meeting, a pitch, and a stage presentation.
- Record a polished five-minute signature talk that you can reuse and refine.
Who this course is for
This is an intermediate course. It assumes you have already given at least a few informal presentations, so you know what it feels like to stand up and speak. We skip the "what is public speaking" basics and go straight to the craft: structure, delivery, story, and pressure.
If you have never presented at all, you can still take it, but expect to move fast. If you already coach speakers professionally, much of this will be familiar. The course is built for people who are decent and want to become deliberate.
Course roadmap
Module 1: Delivery Foundations: Structure, Voice, and Presence
- 1.1 One Message, Strong Open, Strong Close. You will cut a talk down to a single message, then build an opening that hooks and a close that sticks.
- 1.2 Voice and Pacing Drills That Hold Attention. We work on the mechanics of delivery: pace, pause, emphasis, and the drills that make them automatic.
- 1.3 Body Language and Nerves on Your Side. You will learn what to do with your hands, your stance, and your adrenaline, and how to turn nervous energy into presence.
- 1.4 Checkpoint: Structure, Voice, and Presence. A short quiz to confirm the foundations before you build on them.
Module 2: Storytelling and Live Q&A
- 2.1 Story Arcs and Personal Anecdotes That Land. You will learn the shape of a story that holds attention and how to mine your own experience for anecdotes that earn their place.
- 2.2 Handling Q&A Under Pressure. We cover the hard questions: staying calm, buying time, answering honestly, and keeping control of the room.
- 2.3 Checkpoint: Storytelling and Q&A. A quiz that checks you can apply the story and Q&A tools, not just recognize them.
Module 3: Adapt and Deliver: Capstone
- 3.1 Same Talk, Three Rooms: Meetings, Pitches, Presentations. You will take one core message and reshape it for three very different audiences and formats.
- 3.2 Capstone: Build and Record Your 5-Minute Signature Talk. You put everything together and record a finished five-minute talk.
- 3.3 Checkpoint: Adaptive Delivery and Capstone. The final quiz, checking the full toolkit.
How the course works
The course runs about 290 minutes across 10 lessons. That is roughly five hours of focused work, and you can spread it over a week or a weekend.
Lessons come in a few formats:
- Theory lessons break down how strong talks actually work, with real examples you can study line by line.
- Practice lessons give you drills and exercises to do out loud. This course does not work if you only read it. You have to speak.
- The project thread runs through the whole course. Each module feeds a piece of your final talk.
- Checkpoint quizzes at the end of each module confirm you have the foundations before moving on.
You can work linearly, and for most people that is the right call: each lesson builds on the last, and the project thread assumes you have done the earlier pieces. If you already have strong structure and voice, you can skim 1.1 through 1.3 and go straight to the checkpoints to test yourself, then dive into Module 2. Do not skip the capstone. It is where the course actually pays off.
The course project
The project is your 5-Minute Signature Talk: a single, polished, recorded talk that you build piece by piece across the entire course.
This is one continuous thread, not a set of disconnected exercises. Here is how it comes together:
- In 1.1 you choose your one message and draft your open and close.
- In 1.2 you record a short delivery pass and fix your pacing.
- In 1.3 you film yourself and correct your body language and nerves.
- In 2.1 you build the story or anecdote that carries your message.
- In 2.2 you pressure-test it against hard questions.
- In 3.1 you adapt the same talk for a meeting, a pitch, and a stage.
- In 3.2 you assemble, rehearse, and record the final five-minute talk.
By the end you own a talk you can deliver anywhere, plus the toolkit to build the next one faster.
