You have spent this module learning to judge your own knowledge more accurately and to use AI for practice questions without handing it your memory. This lesson turns those tools into one deliverable you can actually run: **a four-week plan that schedules recall, spacing, interleaving, and a real retention check**.

## The brief: one page you will actually follow

Pick a **target skill** you can describe in one sentence, with a finish line. "Get better at Spanish" is too foggy. "Hold a 10-minute conversation about my weekend in Spanish" is a plan.

The deliverable is a single page (paper or doc) containing five parts:

1. **Target skill and finish line** in one sentence.
2. **Weekly recall sessions**: dates and times for closed-book retrieval.
3. **A starter flashcard deck** of 15 to 25 atomic cards.
4. **Interleaved practice blocks** where you mix related sub-skills.
5. **Retention measures**: a delayed self-test you run at week 2 and week 4, scored.

Why a written plan? Because a plan stored in your head is a plan you revise downward at the first sign of friction. Writing the schedule before you feel tired is a metacognitive commitment device.

## What the spec requires

| Requirement | Minimum standard | Common failure |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Recall sessions | 3 per week, each 15 to 25 minutes, closed book | Turning sessions into rereading |
| Spacing | Same material revisited on days 1, 3, 7, 14 | Cramming one long Sunday block |
| Flashcard deck | 15 to 25 cards, one fact each, cloze or Q/A | Paragraph-long backs |
| Interleaving | At least 2 mixed blocks per week across related subtopics | Blocked practice only, one topic per session |
| Retention measure | A written delayed test at day 14 and day 28, scored on paper | "I feel like I know it" as the metric |
| Leech control | Any card missed 4 times is rewritten or retired | Pressing through a broken card forever |
